Early childhood is considered a time of wonder and exploration; and it is also recognised as a crucial period for brain development. We now understand that learning begins from the minute a child is born.
As children grow, so does their brain, and the early years from birth to five are particularly important. Individual children reach developmental milestones according to their own internal timing. There are also agreed optimal ages and stages for children to gain such things as fine and gross motor skills, language, social and emotional competence.
