Zora Arkus-Duntov's GP prototype is one of the few remaining GM testbeds
The 1960 Chevrolet CERV I will be going up for auction at RM Sotheby's in Monterey; a scarcely-seen racing prototype that boasts a history as mysterious as its looks.
Nominally billed as a testbed vehicle for a mid-engined Corvette, the Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle (CERV), in reality, performed a very different role in GM's stable of prototypes and research vehicles. Built for Chevrolet engineers as a single-seat racer that would allow them to test various systems for production cars the CERV was dreamt up by GM Director of High Performance Vehicles Zora Arkus-Duntov, at first as a research vehicle for various Corvette systems.
