One of the most stressful and traumatic life events that parents can endure is the loss of a child. These losses are rarely, if ever, an individual event in which one independently grieves the death, and goes on with the task of living. The death of a child affects each parent to varying degrees, in addition to the surviving children. When a child dies, each individual in the family system must continually strive make sense of, let alone to communicate highly complex emotions.
